WellDecoded Try the decoder

One line on your results letter answers the call before it comes

Well owners mostly want to know one thing: are my results okay? WellDecoded explains every result on the report you already send, in plain English, for free.

What your customers get

They add the PDF you sent, or a photo of the printed page, and every result comes back explained.

  • A clear answer first

Each result is sorted into act now, worth a look, or within limits, against EPA limits or Ontario standards, with the reason in one sentence.

  • The noise set aside

Trip blanks, duplicates, surrogates and other QC lines are recognized and set aside, and units are converted so ug/L and mg/L stop confusing people.

  • What to do next

A retest plan with dates, and links to the local health department, certified labs and licensed contractors. Your lab stays the source of the results.

Add it in five minutes

No account, no integration, nothing to install. Use any of these.

  1. Add a line to your results letter or email

Paste it under the results table or in the email you send with the PDF.

  3. Print the QR code on paper reports

It opens the decoder on the customer's phone, where they can photograph the report.

Want your customers to see your name on it? Ask for a link with your lab's name: the decoder then opens with "Provided by" and your lab, plus who to call about their sample. We'll also tell you each month how many of your customers used it, with no customer details. See an example.

What it never does

  • Calls water "safe". The best it says is that every result it read is within limits.
  • Stores the report. It's read in the customer's browser and never uploaded.
  • Replaces your lab. Anything that needs action points back to you and the health department.
  • Sells treatment. We don't sell equipment or get paid by treatment companies or contractors.

Who you'd work with

Two water scientists, one on each side of the border.

Questions labs ask

Does it cost anything?

No. It's free for labs and well owners during the beta, and explaining results will stay free for well owners.

Will it read our report format?

It reads text PDFs from most lab systems, scanned PDFs and phone photos. If your format trips it up, send us a sample with made up values and we'll tune the reader for it.

Which standards does it use?

US EPA drinking water limits and secondary standards, or Ontario's drinking water standards with Public Health Ontario's bacteria categories. For Ontario labs, use welldecoded.com/try?r=ca so it starts with Ontario standards.

Who's behind it?

Water scientists with PhDs in water information systems and environmental engineering. Meet them on the About page.

Get a link with your lab's name
